Please, don’t try to be that superhero

As a Scrum Master are you placing yourself in the role of the superhero trying to prevent the team from failing, always providing the solutions yourself? Always on the spot so they know you did it? Don´t to it, please. You will be a dependency for them, you will get get all the attention and the credit.

Or maybe yes, maybe you should try to be more of a superhero. But then, if we want to walk that path, we should better look into one definition of someone who knew a lot about superheroes and see if it sounds familiar. Because a superhero spirit is not about that. You don’t need to be in the spot. This is what Stan Lee had to say about it.

Another definition of a hero is someone who is concerned about other people’s well-being, and will go out of his or her way to help them — even if there is no chance of a reward. That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero.
